CPA Firms
Referral partnerships for the specialty areas your firm does not handle in-house.
Every CPA firm encounters client situations that fall outside its core competencies. Perhaps a long-standing client expands operations overseas and suddenly needs international tax expertise. Maybe an individual client receives an IRS notice that requires experienced controversy representation. Or a complex litigation matter demands forensic accounting skills that your team has not developed. In these moments, the question is not whether you need outside help -- it is whether you have a trusted partner to refer to.
Lanphier LLP has built a thriving practice serving as that trusted partner for CPA firms throughout Colorado and across the United States. We understand the dynamics of the referral relationship because we live it every day. We know that when you send a client our way, your reputation is on the line. That is why we treat every referred client with the same attentiveness, responsiveness, and technical excellence that we bring to our own. We communicate proactively with the referring firm, respect the boundaries of the engagement, and return the client when the work is complete.
Specialty Areas We Support
Our firm is most frequently engaged by other CPA firms for international tax planning and compliance (including FBAR, FATCA, treaty analysis, and transfer pricing), IRS controversy representation and audit defense (our team includes a tax attorney with extensive dispute resolution experience), forensic accounting and litigation support, cost segregation studies, R&D tax credit analysis, and complex individual tax planning for high-net-worth clients. These are areas that require deep specialization -- the kind of expertise that is difficult and expensive to build in-house but that your clients occasionally need.
White-Label and Co-Serve Arrangements
We offer flexible engagement structures to protect your client relationships. In a white-label arrangement, we perform the work under your firm's brand, so your client never knows an outside specialist was involved. In a co-serve arrangement, we work alongside your team with full transparency, providing our expertise while you maintain the primary client relationship. In a direct referral arrangement, the client engages us directly for the specialty work, with clear communication back to you throughout the process. We are happy to structure the engagement in whatever way works best for your firm and your client.
Many of our strongest CPA firm relationships are here in the Denver metro area, where we can meet in person, attend your client meetings, and build a genuine working partnership. But we serve referring firms across the country as well -- geography is no barrier to providing excellent specialty support. If you are a CPA firm looking for a reliable, high-quality partner for the work you cannot or choose not to handle in-house, we would welcome the conversation.
